Recapping My Journey Since MIT (aka Sangam) Days – Amrat Lodhia

Hello Sangam Mates,

In anticipation of our reunion, I went through the process of “Looking Back to Look Forward”. My “Rear View Mirror” flashed many memories of the terrain and distance covered. While the journey continues, its time to sit back, relax and enjoy the movie as we celebrate together.

The picture below is symbolic of how Sangam brought us and the community together.
Amrat reminiscingHowever, the real “star” here was not the actress Jaya or Guddi in this picture or those two jovial fellows. The real star was the developing FRIENDSHIPS, as we sailed through 4+ years of hunkering down to do our course work or thesis. Then we parted our different ways, to leverage our knowledge and training; to seek out a living and to make tangible contributions to the world around us.

I joined GE and was part of projects that may have touched you in one way or another:

  • Automated subway train control being used in NYC
  • Programable/Robot controller in use by FANUC in most automotive factories
  • CT Scanners and Ultrasound systems used in majority of hospitals
  • Solid State detectors (replacing films) for clinical X-Ray and Mammography applications
  • X-Ray generating devices for high resolution medical imaging applications

Amrat Lodhia FamilyAs I reflect on 42+ years at GE, question comes up, why did I do all this? The answer without a doubt, is because of people in my family. They are my biggest and most enduring project starring: my wife Gita, her mother, my son Kunal and his wife Neeti,  and my daughter Nayna.

Looking forward to reuniting with you all and hearing about your adventures.
Thanks,
Amrat Lodhia
